For the past 17 years, we have been focusing on providing professional and comprehensive International VAT refund service for the Fortune 500 companies and the large multi-national corporations which have various overseas projects and business activities.

Tell us about your background, and how you came to found your company?
I completed my Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Marketing and Management. I have extensive business planning and management qualifications. I have been working in sales and marketing field for over 20 years.
10-year sales and management experience in the biggest IT & Telecommunications company in Hong Kong, PCCW, which paths my way to take up the Managing Director's role in VAT IT group Hong Kong branch. VAT IT is the largest global Value Added Tax (VAT) reclaim specialist on the planet. With more than 10 years experience in global VAT refund, I have gained substantial and remarkable experience in this particular field.
What is most important to you and your organization – mission, vision, or core values? Why?
Client is the fundamental element to the success of an organization and it is also the asset of the organization. Without client there is no company. Therefore, I always ensure our clients are receiving the best service and professional advice from my team.
Can you explain briefly how your service(s)/product(s) works?
VAT IT provides a one-stop service. We provide a truly outsourced service makes tax refund hassle free for our clients. From invoice retrieval, preparing required documents, submitting claims to dealing with overseas tax authority are all done by VAT IT. In truth, it is definitely beneficial for our clients to save every tax while VAT IT does all the work. Also, we only charge on successful claims which means that if there is no refund, there will be no fee charged to our clients.
The countries that allow corporations to recover the VAT including Europe, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. About the VAT refundable items, travel related expenses such as hotel accommodations, food and beverage, car rental, fuel etc. are reclaimable. Foreign supplier invoices like legal and consulting fee, warehouse and design fee etc. are also allowed to recover the VAT.
How has the industry been changing in recent years?
The increasing awareness of environmental protection and technology development keep changing the world including the commercial side. The concept of green office with less paper makes more organizations to go for office automation so it is getting more and more Finance department deploying scan-and-destroy policy which means once the invoices are scanned and uploaded into a cloud-based travel expense management system, they will be destroy and no more original copy will be kept.
In view of this, we partnered with SAP Concur, the market leader in travel expense management system, to integrate with and download the travelling data from the system. Based on the information, we will contact the hotels and suppliers for getting the eligible invoices reprinted before we submit the claims for VAT refund. We also use OCR technology reads data directly off invoice images.
